CORY RICHARDS
Cory Richards didn't begin taking photos until he was out of highschool and nearly homeless. With his mom's camera he went Alaska and began taking images of the stunning landscapes. From here on he worked in the photography industry and was eventually hired as a National Geographic photographer after an image he took of himself surviving an avalanche. I enjoy Richards images because they show the complex emotions of humans in certain environments. At the same time through each image you can see a genuine connection between people and the surrounding environment. I hope to replicate this in my own work.

JIMMY CHIN
Jimmy Chin is an American climbing photographer. He is known best for his mountaineering based photography as he has traveled all across the world photographing expeditions. Much like the other artists I have chosen to research, Chin does an exceptional job showing scale in his images. Many of the photos he has taken incorporates a person interacting with the world around them. I appreciate how he focuses on the general theme of climbing but shows it in many different settings. With my work, I would like incorporate more people show scale.

CHRIS BURKARD
Chris Burkard is a California born adventure photographer. He gained fame through surf photography but now photographs a variety of things all relating to the outdoors. To this day I would consider Burkard to be one of my favorite photographers because of the way he shows the connection between people and nature. Additionally the color that can be found in each of his images is nearly unmatched by other photographers. From the subject to the background to the final editing it is evident that he hopes to produce the best images of his ability.

RENAN OZTURK
Renan Ozturk is a climber, a landscape artist and a filmmaker. As part of The North Face climbing team he has traveled across the globe documenting it though his eyes. I appreciate Ozturk's work because he the images he captures are very diverse. He is not bound by typical climbing photographer work, he travels into rugged jungles and to mountain tops to capture life both above and life below the tree line. In each image it is evident he considers how people interact with the space around them.
