ABOUT MY STUDY
For my English study I am exploring importance of space and the outdoors through quarterly writing projects. Each projects is paired with a book, or multiple essays, articles and podcasts to supplement my writing. Throughout the year I hope to have my English study replicate the Expo. curriculum. This will keep me challenged throughout the year and ensure that I will produce an adequate amount of work. This year I hope to write multiple multi draft essays that speak to the importance of space and the outdoors.
PLANNING MY PROJECTS
Since the beginning of the year I have put great emphasis into designing monthly writing projects which challenge me to complete work in certain time frames. Before beginning each project I spend a day planning out what I what I would like to write and the resources I will use to complete that writing. During this time I also look at the following weeks and decide when I want to set certain deadlines. I often choose to complete one draft of a piece every week, resulting in 3-4 drafts over the course of the month. Following the completion of each draft I plan out time where I can meet with Chris to conference my writing. As I generate these ideas I write them down in a calendar within my notebook.
During the first quarter I used this 5 week calendar to write my college essay and read Walden By Henry David Thoreau. With an important essay like this, I allowed space between each draft so I could really focus on the words I chose to explain my ideas.

During the second quarter I wrote a narrative about an encounter with a grizzly bear this past summer. With my semester exhibition looming in the future I designed a plan where I could write a multi draft essay over the course of 3 weeks so it could be presented in time for my exhibition.
