MY RESEARCH
During semester one my research began as a very broad search into what minimalism is. At the start there was no clear focus or direction to my work. As time went on I uncovered what many people perceive minimalism to be, but I wanted to take this deeper. I found that minimalism is a very individual concept and it greatly differs depending on who you ask. Minimalist lifestyles are much more prominent throughout the U.S. than in other countries. In many cases, we have the ability to cut back and reduce material possessions which do not add meaning to our lives. In other places around the world, people struggle just to receive basic needs. So how can minimalism apply to all?
I began to realize that minimalism is very prominent in ancient and modern architecture. The reason I decided to study it in the first place came from the minimalist design of my house. The focus of my study has been in front of me the whole time. As a researched into minimalist architecture I began finding positive adaptations of minimalist ideas. Here I found the refugee housing crisis and how minimalist structures could be the future for refugee camps. Below is all of the research I completed in the first semester.

MINIMALISM, BUDDHISM, ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE, AND MORE
This is the general research I did at the start of the semester. After reading many articles I began to understand the basics of minimalism, the connection between minimalism and Buddhism, and how minimalism dates back to ancient architecture.
Here are the sites I used to find this information. More about them can be found in my Annotated Bibliography.
